The Lost Village focuses on New York City’s Greenwich Village, which was once the epicenter for arts and culture. Huge rent increases in the village have hastened the closing of Mom and Pop shops and cultural venues. St. Vincent’s hospital was forced to close only to be replaced by luxury condos. The unique landscape of the village being threatened by the expansion plans of one of the village’s most influential institutions- NYU. Located in the heart of the village, NYU not only has one of the highest tuitions in the country, but a high rate of student prostitution.
If we meet our initial funding goal of $2,500 we will be able self-release the film through community screenings, but we'd really like to aim for our stretch goal of $10,000. We'd be able to work with a distributor to release the film on internet platforms and further increase the awareness of the important issues that this film addresses.
The story of “the lost village” has been happening all across the United States. Unfortunately there are many more “lost villages” around the world. We need to take a stand. The time for action is now. The Lost Village is an eye-opening film that provides solutions in the form of grassroots activism.
With $2,500 we can self-release The Lost Village on the Internet and tour the film around with community screenings. We are looking for Captains to get a film screened in their local communities. If you sell a certain amount of tickets (depending on the theater) and you can bring the film to your community. Captains will be eligible to receive some of the lower tier rewards.
If we raise $10,000, in addition to being able to self-release the film through community screenings, we will to work with a distributor to release the film on internet platforms, thereby increasing awareness of the important issues that this film addresses.
With $25,000, we'll be able to secure a distributor who will screen the film in New York and Los Angeles for one week runs. We will then tour selected cities for one night screenings with question and answer sessions in select locations. In addition to community screenings, the film will be available on many internet platforms for streaming. DVDs of the film will be available for purchase through website. The film will also get released in some international territories.
With $50,000 we will be able to work with a distributor who will screen the film in several other big cities (in addition to New York and Los Angeles) for one week runs. We will tour these cities with one night screenings and question and answer sessions when possible. With more money available for marketing, the film will also get released in more international territories.
